Rotary Club of Delhi South Metropolitan

History of the club

It was a hot summer evening when five friends met at the residence of Dr. Jagjit Singh and decided to look beyond themselves by forming a new Rotary Club - a club with a difference like none other in RID 3010-a Club that met over breakfast at precisely 7.59 every Monday morning. With this in mind they met the then District Governor Rtn. Sushil Gupta who encouraged them. The new Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Delhi South. Rtn Jagmohan was appointed Governors Special Representative who helped complete the formalities. The first meeting was held in the office of Dr. Jagjit Singh of IMM fame. It was on June 20, 1987 Rotary International. Evanston, USA gave its consent and at a glittering function on June 27, 1987 District Governor Sushil Gupta, in the presence of Lt. Governor of Delhi Gen. H.K.L. Kapur and a distinguished gathering of over 200 Rotarians the Rotary Club of Delhi South Metropolitan became the 24631 club of RI. Thus began its tryst with destiny.

Today the club is over 36 years old and we have continued the good work that our predecessors began more than 36 years back. We have the privilege of having a leading Rotarian as a past District Governor Manjit Sawhney from our club. We are well known in the district of having done the maximum service projects at any given time.
